Knockout Privacy Policy
Last updated:
KiwiSprout Limited, trading as KiwiSprout, provides Knockout to merchants using Shopify. The App automatically hides out-of-stock products and republishes them when they become available. This policy explains what information we handle when you install or use the App, why we need it, and how to contact us about your privacy.
Interpretation and Definitions
These terms have the same meaning in the singular and plural:
- We, us, or our means KiwiSprout Limited, New Zealand.
- App or Service means Knockout and its related support.
- You means the person using the App or the business they represent.
- Personal information means information about an identifiable person.
- Usage information means technical information about interactions with the App.
- Service providers means businesses that help us operate and support the App.
Collecting and Using Personal Information
Information from you and Shopify
When you access the App, we receive your name and email address from Shopify. We also receive your store's myshopify.com domain to identify its relationship with the App. If you contact us, we receive the information you include in your support request.
Information available through Shopify depends on the permissions you grant and the features you use. The App uses the store information needed to deliver those features. Please avoid including unnecessary personal information in app content or support messages.
Usage information
Technical records generated when you use the App may include IP addresses, browser and device details, access times, actions within the App, and error information. Such records help diagnose faults, understand performance, and protect the Service.
Why we use information
- Connect the App to your store and deliver the features you configure.
- Answer support requests and communicate about service or security changes.
- Investigate errors, maintain reliability, and improve the App.
- Prevent misuse, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, or a legal obligation, as appropriate. If a use requires your consent, we will seek it for that purpose.
Sharing and Disclosure
Information may be handled by service providers supporting hosting, technical operations, and customer support, to the extent needed for their work. Information is also exchanged with Shopify as part of providing the App's features.
We may disclose information in response to a lawful request, to meet legal requirements, or where necessary to investigate misuse or protect people's safety and our legal rights. We may also disclose information when you specifically authorise us to do so.
Business ownership changes
If ownership of the App or our business changes, relevant records may form part of that transaction. If a new operator will handle your information under a different policy, we will notify you before that policy applies.
Retention of Personal Information
We keep information for the period needed to operate the App, support your store, and fulfil the purposes described here. We may need to keep some records longer to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Store relationship records identify your store by its myshopify.com domain; this is separate from support correspondence and other information described in this policy.
Uninstalling the App ends its ongoing access to your store through that installation. To ask about information already held or request its deletion, use the contact details below.
International Processing
We operate from New Zealand. Information may also be processed in countries where Shopify or our service providers operate, including Canada and the United States. Those countries may have different privacy laws. Where overseas disclosure requires safeguards under applicable law, we will use appropriate protections for that disclosure.
Access, Correction, and Deletion
You can contact us to request access to your personal information, correct inaccurate details, or request deletion. We may need to verify your identity and your relationship to the store before releasing or changing information. If we must retain particular records, we will explain the reason when responding to your request.
Depending on the law that applies to you, including the GDPR for individuals in the European Economic Area, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy of your information, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it.
If you are a customer of a merchant using the App, you can contact that merchant about information connected with your shopping activity. You can also contact us for help identifying information handled by the App. Shopify provides merchants with processes for requesting customer data and its deletion from installed apps.
Please contact us with privacy concerns or complaints. You may also contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner or your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access or disclosure. Internet services and electronic storage cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
The App is provided for merchants to operate their businesses and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information directly to us, contact us so we can investigate and arrange appropriate removal. Information supplied through a merchant's store is also subject to that merchant's privacy practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links from the App may take you to Shopify or other services operated by third parties. Their own privacy policies explain how they handle information when you use those services.
Changes to This Policy
We will publish revisions on this page and update the date above. Where a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide notice through the App or by email before it takes effect, as required by applicable law.
