Recognising a need to refresh their online presence and work with an growth-driven agency, The Aromatherapy Co joined KiwiSprout’s Shopify Success Program in late 2023. Since then, they have seen a 43% increase in sales in 2024 compared to previous year, followed by a 86% increase in sales YTD for 2025, and last month in May achieved a whopping 158% increase in sales compared to May last year. Amidst brands struggling to grow and generate online sales in 2023 to 2025, The Aromatherapy Co has stood out as a fast growing leader not just in it’s own industry but but the NZ/AU ecommerce sector as a whole.

Split Testing & Ecommerce Strategy
By partnering with a Shopify agency that understands what makes stores grow, The Aromatherapy Co was delivered a comprehensive ecommerce strategy to boost their conversion rate and other core metrics.
As part of the strategy we outlined, we built unique website features custom-tailored to their Shopify store including a bundle building interface, dynamic sales, and deeply embedded product upsells. On top of this, we also split tested each feature and value add change we did to the website to provide empirical evidence of what works and what doesn’t. The end result of these changes were a higher conversion rate, higher average order value, and improved website engagement.
3PL Integration & Expansion
The Aromatherapy Co also worked with us to integrate their existing systems with their Australian and New Zealand based 3PL, to ensure seamless fulfilment and stock tracking between all sources, simplifying their distribution across Australia and other international countries.
Our 3PL integration work covered building Shopify apps and automations to handle stock syncing between the 3PL’s internal FTP systems and Shopify, order forwarding to 3PL agents, and tracking order updates from the 3PL warehouse. Our built in monitoring systems ensures this all continues to operate smoothly so that The Aromatherapy Co can focus on their internal brand and marketing without having to worry about shipment logistics.
Website Redevelopment & SEO
After identifying several issues with the website quality and SEO of their old website, we developed a fully custom Shopify website for TAC that helped drive brand growth. As part of this redevelopment, we built the frontend of the website using AstroJS, which enabled us to achieve a number of wins not normally possible in Shopify, including:

A 90+/100 PageSpeed Score for mobile and desktop, while still loading a lot of media onto the pages. One big technical win with Astro is being able to use Astro Islands to lazy-load any complex elements of the website, and integrate Partytown for webworkers so that tracking scripts don’t slow down the page.

By using Vercel Edge middleware, we can run A/B tests on different pages to test the true performance of new features without complex systems or expensive apps.

Through our ability to use React JS where needed, we can build custom shopping experiences without needing to pay for and maintain Shopify apps or integrations, such as our custom bundle builder.
